cause i pulled that number out of my ass. the point is that they cost more.

    Corevette MSRP = 45K
    S2000 MSRP = 34K

So 11K more. Man i was way off. Still a nice turbo kit.

The problem many dont consider is how far beyond OEM specs these cars are being pushed. The chassis/frame/drive train, etc are usually made to handle more then what the car currently has.

The thing is though, with the vette's pushing 900whp you're floating in the 90-110% power upgrade range. The effects of that will be far less severe then the 250%+ increases most imports see to get into that playing field.

Sure, a lot of imports from the early 90s to mid/late 90s were overbuilt and could handle that stress (Supra, RX-7, Skyline, etc.) but I doubt an S2000 will last too long without having to get into some crazy chassis/frame/drive train upgrades to cope with that sort of power. At that point, any cost advantage given to imports start flying out the window because you're spending it on items necessary to keep the car from falling apart.

This of course, its at its limits. Most people dont (cant afford) to push a car to that limit so its beyond their need to worry about it.

They can definately get better hp/cube ratios. On the street, reliable, and for the most poop on pump gas its sometimes hard to beat displacement though. Some of those all wheel drive imports can get the edge launchin on the street.

Both imports and domestics can make fast rides...as soon as you start thinkin your car or manufacturer is the shit though, somebody will come along and wipe their ass with your car. Just how it is...somebody is always faster.

The one posted is a convertible. With 900hp, reckon how bad that thing would twist?

S2k has a base price of 34k. No way you're getting 400 or better yet 500hp out of them for under 7k. Not to mention it wont be able to handle that power without plenty of suspension work. Bracing will most likely be needed too.

Google Search the SSC Ultimate Aero, Most Powerful Production Car Ever Made.
Wouldn't consider it production. How many of those have you seen on the street? Nobody has one. They wont sell them. Simply publicity.
