I can't wait for the BM, honestly. My application (a crew cab chevy truck) makes my ONLY option, sans rear seat removal, a box behind the rear seat. I'm limited to 4.5" mounting depth MAX and about 2.2 cubes gross. I'm currently stuck with some sealed 8" re re's, so when I saw these BM's imerge onto the market with that 3.5" mounting depth, I fell in love. Additionally, they only require .5 cubes sealed, for a 12". Furthermore, they have an RMS wattage of 500watts, but will do great off of 300 wrms. It's the perfect application for someone like me, or anyone else looking for a clean driver with adequate output but not wanting a gigantic box.
Stealth installs can be taken to a whole new level with both subs. CA.com and ROE are all about throwing a million watts to a driver in a huge, ported enclosure, and it's 150dBs or go home. However, that isn't SI's market base, and they understand many people aren't going to jump on board for a sub with an RMS of 1 kW, but only needs 500ish watts to get going.
SI has their niche, and they certainly have big plans. I remember a post on SSA summing it best one time, "Nick builds subwoofers for himself, then offers them to the public." That's what he did, and although no one is going to be putting up ridiculous numbers with SI subs, they will be pioneering their way into a new direction of car audio.

Personally, I Couldn't care less what the sub looks like, as long as it sounds good blending with my front stage and hits the lows, it doesn't matter. The Sub will be in my trunk, and i wont see it unless i need to go into my trunk for something, plus the only way you see the basket is if your inverting them, or have a see through box. There are truly hitting a niche market that many other companies fail to address. Even JL is looking to hit that market as well http://mobile.jlaudio.com/jlaudio_pages.php?page_id=213 . True Audophiles dont need there sub to handle 1200 watts continuous, and from what i've been hearing the new mag gets just as low as the previous generation mag

The looks are OK, but doesnt matter cause Ill never see it once in a box. I do however like the shallow mounting depth to the mag. Opens up new possibilities for my dads F-350 an other trucks/applications were it'll help.

Indeed, but there would've been more tasteful options. Let me repeat, those subs are FUGLY. I'm sure the BM is a solid performer, but as was stated, did it have to be a candy red bowl? It could have at least been black. As far as the Mag's basket goes, it looks just like any other el-cheapo chinese sub, as shown earlier. At least it's not chromed out; that would have just been icing on the cake. But not all 'different' baskers are all bad... TC wanted to be different with their baskets, and I've gotta say, they're hot (They can pull off red, too). The RD Sonace's basket looked alright, IMO.

What sub that is manufactured right now fits the space where the old mag was in the SQ to Output mix? Better yet what exceeds the mag in both categories.
When the "new" mag was first brought up, I think people were hoping for something with the same output slightly better SQ and smaller box requirements. Now that the mag is more of sealed only driver that might not handle/need the 1000watts ported the old mag would they are upset. Thus the poking fun. That being said I might buy one to play with. If I like them, I might do 4 sealed on 4k, in my impala, being that they are light. Thats a definite plus.
Honestly I can't wait for this mag, because I just remembered, I got a friend waiting for a sub that fits this category b/c he has a regular cab S-10 and a 800 watt @ 4ohm MB Quart amp, and little room for a box, this shallow mount works perfect....

I am considering the BM...finding .5 cf will be another matter...the fact that it is red doesn't matter as the only way anyone would know is if they broke into my truck.

If someone uses me as a reference, please contact me first.
Over the eight years that I've been designing and selling subwoofers I've had more people ask me about shallow mounting depth and the ability to work well with less than 1500 watts than I have had people ask me about a deeper, more power-soaking monster by 2 to 1.
I know that a lot of posters on this board are all about big, massive subwoofers...and that's fine. However, I know from my personal experiences and customer requests that I'm tired of lugging around heavy subwoofers in gigantic boxes. They take up too much room and they're too heavy.
The new Mag accomplishes the same output as the previous Mag in small sealed enclosures with 1000 watts and less. The new Mag also plays lower than the previous Mag...and sounds better than the previous Mag. Chaulk up over an inch shallower mounting depth, and the new Mag fits 90% of our customers typical installations better than anything we've previously offered. My main thing is why tote around the extra weight while sacrificing 80% of your trunk when you don't have to?
The BM's were built with similar goals (but more extreme). Why have an 8 or a 10 inch sub when you can have a 12" sub that goes lower and plays cleaner in the same size enclosure? The stealth install / sports car / truck market is exactly who we're going after with the BM's. The new BM's offer ultra-thin capability and loads of performance in one neat package.

None of TC's/Audiopulse's frames are custom, that Im aware of. So far as I remember, they use the 12 spoke on lower models, that multi-piece looking frame on their mid level drivers (that Ive seen come out of a foreign build house 2 or mroe years ago) and the big frames they use on the LMS/Ultra, which Ground Zero has been using for years.
Am I mistaken? I dont think I am. GZ may have stolen that frame design from TC years ago though too, I know they were their buildhouse for a while. Wait... were they? I think Ive confused myself now.
No speaker, in the history of speakers, has ever been blown by too little power. Ever. I don't care what your friend told you, he's a dirty liar.
Im tempted to offer the mods $50 to have this thread deleted.
Dont mean to beat a dead horse, but any idea of the pricing? im thinking about putting a 12" mag in my g/f's new SUV but wasnt sure the release date or price point. Could someone refresh my memory?? I could not imaging getting as loud and LOWER at that size, im a 15" woofer fan, but i dont think I can pass on this mag
