A good rule of thumb I've always used: If Best buy/ Circuit city sells it...ITS junk. Cheap, massed produced shyt for those on a budget.

But this statement still bothers me. What about Kicker, Polk Audio, Alpine, etc? These are very good brands carried by Big Boxes.

two xa1000 might work but you need to check if they are truly 2 ohm stable the site gives a power rating for the amp in 2 ohm but does not give a thd value for it at that ohm load and it also does not say if that power rating is rms or max either way you will probably want to get a amp with a bit more power to make those subs perform like they should. might want to consider a amp that will do 1000rms+ into a 1 ohm load or 500+rms x2 @2ohm.

RMS at 2 Ohms is around 360-380 for each XA1000. You'll need more power.

I think I will go with the 2 XA1000s. One of my friends says that will probably run cooler than one large amp anyway, be less likely to overheat.

Is there any difference between wiring one two channel amp, and two one channel amps? I mean, is there only one output on a headunit for subwoofers, is that somehow "split" into two amps? Or should there be two seperate sub outputs, one for left and right? I'm just making sure, so I don't buy 2 amps, and then have someone tell me "we can't hook up two seperate amps for your subs" and then be out $150.

I hate best buy too but there really is no other place to go. I've been ripped off multiple times by little independent shops, so I don't trust them AT ALL, and the only other chains beside best buy and circuit city, are places like Chronic Car Audio, which are run by 24 year old community college drop-outs who I wouldn't trust with my ipod, let alone hundreds of dollars of my car audio. Best buy has a policy where they gaurentee they will install it right, or they will either fix it for you or refund your money. The other shops don't have that. Frankly, none of my options seem good, I don't really trust anyone to do a good job, but at least Best Buy will refund my money if they **** up, other places won't.

I can't stand big box stores , but I agree with you there . Everything they sell isn't junk . CC locally has the top of the line eclipse head units in stock , those are far from junk

Alpine carried by Best Buy? Must be new cuz I've never seen it.

I'm talking high end quality stuff, to which when I compare the likes of Kicker, Sony, JVC, and many of the other "big" electronics names etc... They just don't compare. Are they decent products, good products? Absolutely.

Are they on the level of Eclipse, TRU, JL, Xtant, Morel, MB Quart? No. Rockford has made a nice comeback. For a while their stuff was crap too.

Quite a big one. I haven't ventured into best buy looking for car audio for years.

I did not know this either, because like best buy, the last time I ventured into a CC and looked at car audio it was long ago and they did not carry eclipse.

Perhaps they've caught up with the game.
