Whether you think it's a good idea or bad idea, I certainly have to say it's creative lol.

Quote:

Officials in West Vancouver, Canada, apparently aren't satisfied with the driver-slowing properties of traditional speed bumps. On Tuesday, the town unveiled a new way to persuade motorists to ease off the gas pedal in the vicinity of the École Pauline Johnson Elementary School: a 2-D image of a child playing, creating the illusion that the approaching driver will soon blast into a child.

According to Discover magazine, the pavement painting appears to rise up as the driver gets closer to it, reaching full 3-D realism at around 100 feet: "Its designers created the image to give drivers who travel at the street's recommended 18 miles per hour (30 km per hour) enough time to stop before hitting Pavement Patty -- acknowledging the spectacle before they continue to safely roll over her."

You have to wonder if the designers of the "speed bump of the future" considered that drivers might become conditioned to disregard Pavement Patty and her imaginary cohorts, creating something similar to a "boy who cried wolf" effect. Couldn't such conditioning reduce drivers' caution if a real child should cross their path?

Asked whether confusing and/or tricking drivers with such images might create such unintended hazards, David Dunne of the British Columbia Automobile Association Traffic Safety Foundation said that pedestrians need to be just as alert as drivers.

"People tune out. It takes an attitude shift for people to change," Dunne said. "Pedestrians need an attitude shift too. They have to realize that just because they are in a crosswalk doesn't mean they are safe. In fact, most get hit while using crosswalks."

As for drivers who become can't process optical illusions, Dunne argued that they have no business on the road in the first place.

"It's a static image," he said. "If a driver can't respond to this appropriately, that person shouldn't be driving, and that's a whole different problem."

I am selling most of my car audio equipment. I am moving onto other projects and do not want this stuff sitting around in my garage. I am putting them here because I have had good experiences buying from some people here. I freaking hate ebay and would rather not give them my money. You can see my rating on ebay as specsix. I am not interested in trades. I am trying to get rid of this stuff, not to collect more stuff. Sorry.

I never pushed the 15's over 2000 watts (rated 4000watts peak). I just pulled them out yesterday and noticed one of the voice coils is a little discolored. Both woofers are working as expected and probably some of the cleanest sounding woofers I have ever owned. Tight, clean and loud. They remind me a lot of Image Dynamics IDMAX 12's as far as SPL and SQ is concerned.

2009 Re Audio XXX 15D2s
$425 for non-discolored voice coil sub.
$375 for discolored voice coil sub.

If you are wondering why the cones have RE on them instead of XXX, please go here. I still have not figured it out why they changed for 2009.

MMATS 2100.1 $350
I have had this for a couple of years: bought brand new in 2008. I lost a screw to the remote wire so I used a spare screw I had laying around. Other than that, it is in awesome condition.

MMATS 3000.1 $450
I bought this in March off of ebay for 600. I used it this summer and now letting it go with a loss. It is in mint condition.

Orion HCCA D5000 $300
I have had this since 2007. I hate this freaking amp. It is crazy powerful, but I hate the built in features that have to be adjusted.

Payment

Money order will work best. Paypal bends me over everytime I use it. I sold my IDMAXs on ebay and some guy paid me with paypal and then disputed the payment BEFORE the UPS delivered the speakers. He didn't even have the speakers before he disputed. He tried to flat out rip me off. In the end, Paypal gave me the money, but it was a pain in the ass.

I am in no hurry to sell this stuff so my prices are pretty locked in. If you think that I am being unreasonable, then respectfully let me know in a PM.

If you are in the Seattle area, I am also selling my truck for $7000 OBO. 2000 s-10 with LS1 5.7L Engine with posi rear end.

I have about 4.5^3 feet to work with in the back of my 08 scion xb. I have a box from a previous set up that I would like to repurpose for this build. It's 4.5^3 with about 72" of port area. I believe it's tuned to 33hrz. If I need to build something different it's no big deal.
I'd like to run 2 12's
AQ is having a special this moth with 2 HDC12's and a 3500d
Do I have enough space to run these two subs?
If so, should I bother with the aluminum coils?

Additionally, while I'm asking questions, how many additional batteries will I need to run?
I have an optima yellow top up front and the big three will be done before this install.

I'm looking for a daily all around set up. Nothing spectacular. My previous set up envolved 2 12"type r's on about 1200 watts. I'm assuming this will be an improvement.

Also, I am still in the planning stages of this next build, but am getting close. I am open to all other suggestions. sub/amp

Thanks for all of the help gentlemen

I recently had my car in the shop ( new transmission ) for about a month, they also replaced my battery as it is old. In the car i have JVC AVX-720. When i got the car back, the only thing that was working is the power button is lit up (pressing it does nothing) , and it plays very low music. None of the buttons on the front are lit up, nevermind working. And the LCD screen does not turn on either ( When the unit has power though it has faint horizontal black lines going across it. Also, when i plug my ipod in it seems to go back and forth charging.
If anyone has any input about what could be going on, I would appreciate it.
