door pods - version deuce

i made simple door pods a few months ago. now i want to double up the midbass.
this is the first step in starting my custom 3-way setup. finished product will be
2 pairs of 8's, set of mids, and a set of tweeters(yet to be perchased).

    pix:
picture of drivers side door with single pod. new pods will have a similar taper at the rear of the door.

    pass. side door chopped up.

rough sketch on back piece. i know i know need some deadener.

    pods without resin

quick mock-up to check fit. the gaps will get tighter after fg and vinyl

    first coat of resin

last pic of the day. first layer of mat. still juicy

Re: door pods - version deuce

i forgot how expensive resin is. ill end up spending $20 per pod just on resin. the wood was left over and so was the fleece so i guess $40 bucks aint bad

Looks very good. Will the 2nd 8" be playing into the side of the seat? Just wondering if you checked that out. Should be killer when it's all done, so be sure to post more pics...

Re: door pods - version deuce

    update:

passenger door is 95%done. heres what i got so far.

vinyl applied. had to use a heat gun to get it around all the curves. dropped the heat gun now chunks of ceramic fall out of it.

almost done. i bought grills with 8 screw holes and woofer only have 6. solution? drill the woofer frame!
the trim around the pod still isnt up to par. i will have to find a better way to do it.

someone asked yesterday if the second woofer plays into the side of the seat. peep it yo. morel grills gotta be the sexiest grill out.
