    ok cool. hey i did it again. this time sub at +15 and everything set up. well the max i could get was 61volts at max gain. i used the tblock (looks like its made of copper) as my ground since i couldnt get to my ground under the carpet. this is on my car btw not my friends im talkin about. but like i said max i could get is 61 volts. should i use a different ground? such as the chassis where my real grounds for my amps are? same thing with the alpine amp for my mids. i set the gain and i need 17 volts and max i could get was 13 volts. tips? and one more question for jmac, why do you always put the ellispsis on the end of almost every sentence lol. it makes me think your makin fun of me or makin a joke at me.

    Why don't you use the - on the amp as your "ground" like you should be, your not measuring dc here.

    lol yes. although i did set the gain on my friends amp, he insisted on turnin it up more. i told him where i set it is where i reccomend it stay. whatever you do after that that might result in damaged equipment is not my fault. he likes the settin it by ear way better...wish i had an oscope.

    Re: Gain Setting Tutorial

    hey aneonrider, I see that you have the same Hifonics BX1500 Amp as me. I also see that you have the same subs as me or do you? Are those 4 Ohm Type R's or 2 Ohm. If they are 2 Ohm can I just use the same exact gain settings as you since we do both have the same amp and subs I think.

    If you dont have the 2 Ohm subs then forget everything I just asked cuz those are what I have.

    Anywayz, The hifonics amp is rated at 1000W at 2 Ohms. I will also be doing a 2 Ohm wiring for the subs (parallel). So should the voltage be:

    sqrt(1000x2)=44.7
    or
    sqrt(1500x2)=54.7

    one more thing,
    what should i set these knobs ony amp to?
    sub sonic=?
    low pass=?
    phase=?
    level=gain

    fyi this amp will only be connected to my two type r's which are 2 Ohms DVC. Also my h/u is an alpine 9821 which has a preamp voltage of 2 volts.

    thats it and hope you can help.
