    Re: Gain Setting Tutorial

When I tried to measure my Soundstream VGA320.4 to set the gains I got nothing. My volt meter didn't pickup a thing. Tried pluging it in to a wall socket and it read 120. So I must be nuts.

    Re: Gain Setting Tutorial

during most music, the voltage will be very low...less than a volt. Only when playing test tones will you get the voltage you need to set the gains.

    Re: Gain Setting Tutorial

I used a 50 hz sine wave from Treo and didn't get a thing. I will try using leads to get a better connection for the voltmeter. It plays music when I hook up the speakers so I know my RCAs are good.

I guess it runs a Tone Sweep Calibration Routine Automatically configures and optimizes the power supply to the connected speaker load.

I wondered if that might affect it?

    Re: Gain Setting Tutorial

finally got my scope...setting gains with this is nothing...just keep turning it up until the sine waves start to have flat tops and back off a little

found out my usx4065 is underrated and the cl400 is on point.

search for downloable test tones...make sure they're recorded at a 0dB reference level though.

Yeah but, what about higher frequency test tones. Need somewhere that has a 1khz tone?

    Re: Gain Setting Tutorial

STILL not getting any reading on my volt meter. About to throw the thing away and get a new one. If I turn the gain all the way up while running the sine wave it will read 3 volts , I just don't get it.

Check the sine wave on my computer and it belched a nice healthy 50 hz tone. So I know the cd is recorded right.

I think it's my volt meter. Gonna have to see if I can get a different one, or use somebody elses for a change.

    Re: Gain Setting Tutorial

does it matter if its a dual sub configuration
sprt(500x (2 dual 4 ohm subs))? so how do i do it? is it at the final ohm level the amp will see?
    Best receiver ever?
    I think so
